This project proposes the revitalization of this abandoned area through the development of a new community called Lakeshore-City.
The design of the new city is informed by the social and economic issues that have kept South Chicago in a poor condition since the closing of the mill and it is based on the solutions to those issues. Through adding diversified program, enhancing connectivity, and encouraging human interaction, the built design of the new city attempts to create a contemporary and socially sustainable living environment that can bring new prosperity to its surrounding neighborhood.<img src="http://payload112.cargocollective.com/1/2/71725/4540193/sc-condt.jpg" width="350" height="350" width_o="350" height_o="350" src_o="http://payload112.cargocollective.com/1/2/71725/4540193/sc-condt_o.jpg" data-mid="24132405" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload112.cargocollective.com/1/2/71725/4540193/program.jpg" width="350" height="350" width_o="350" height_o="350" src_o="http://payload112.cargocollective.com/1/2/71725/4540193/program_o.jpg" data-mid="24132403" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload112.cargocollective.com/1/2/71725/4540193/block.jpg" width="350" height="350" width_o="350" height_o="350" src_o="http://payload112.cargocollective.com/1/2/71725/4540193/block_o.jpg" data-mid="24132396" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload112.cargocollective.com/1/2/71725/4540193/blocks.jpg" width="350" height="350" width_o="350" height_o="350" src_o="http://payload112.cargocollective.com/1/2/71725/4540193/blocks_o.jpg" data-mid="24132398" border="0" align="left"/>

Vosge Chocolate is a relatively new boutique chocolate maker that envisioned a factory that would be the "temple of chocolate".

Inspired by this idea, the design creates a structural element that repeats itself to form the whole mass of the factory and to give an impression of ancient temple.

The solution is a neighborhood walkway (rather than a station building) that follows the ancient axis to Mecca and covers all the underground commuters leaving the surface as a beautiful park. This axis leads the local residents directly to the gorgeous cost of Marmara - a connection previously blocked by the busy highway running along the shore.

This movie is the multimedia presentation part of a concept for the revitalization of the Chicago river front. This idea celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Burnham plan for Chicago. Part of this significant plan that changed the face of Chicago was to leave all the lake front free and open for the public to enjoy. The sriverwalk development proposal complements his plan and extends it to take advantage of our long river edges that are currently very unfriendly places to be in.

The interior bookshelves act as additional insulation while the roof is set at an angle to shed the water and enhance the view.

Hines urban development competition. The project was developed by a multidisciplinary team of students at IIT. Our idea was to make Mount Baker (we called the new community MOBA) an area where all aspects of a healthy community fuse together. We planned a development that had diverse businesses, cultural aspects, transportation means and so a diverse living experience.

This transformation of the area starts by the greening of the main street that would go (in three development phases) from a four lane busy avenue to a pedestrian and trolley only access. The section drawing below shows Rainier Ave in its second phase where the car lanes are reduced and greenscapes and bike lanes are introduced.

Part of the requirement involved creating an identity for the community and a name that will go with it. We felt that MOBA and the “infinity / fusion” sign represented our idea best.
